STABLE BLEACHING POWDER
This is a 20 TPD Stable Bleaching Powder (Calcium Hypochlorite) plant proposed to be located in the State of Andhra Pradesh.  Hydrated Lime, Liquid Chlorine, Caustic Soda etc can be utilized as raw materials for the manufacture of SBP.
 
 
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS
SBP is manufactured by Chlorination of dry Hydrated Lime under vacuum in a chlorination drum.  The SBP plant is located in a building with solid flow from top to bottom by gravity Lime is carried by a bucket elevator to a Lime Hopper located on top of the building.  From this Hopper, Lime is fed into the Chlorination Drum for one batch through a gate opening at the base of the Hopper.  The Chlorination Drum is a horizontal cylindrical vessel with an internal agitator and external jacket.  Liquid Chlorine is fed from the cylinders to the drum and cooking water in the jacket cools the lime.

The Drum is maintained under vacuum of about 680 – 700 mm HG by a vacuum pump.  The water vapor and un-reacted Chlorine coming out of the drum is first passed through a separation vessel fitted with a screw conveyor for removal of carry over Lime / SBP and returned back to the Chlorinator drum.  These gases are then scrubbed in water in a Ventury Scrubber followed by a milk of Lime scrubber for removal of Chlorine.  The gases then enter the water ring vacuum pump and leaves to atmosphere.  The Ventury Scrubber and Caustic Scrubber Liquor is cooled in plate cooler by chilled water to maintain low temperature for better vacuum maintenance and improves Chlorine absorption.  The vacuum pump seal water is also re-circulated by a pump through a plate cooler to maintain the temperature below 250C.

After completion of Chlorine addition the batch is heated to dry the product, as water is a reaction product.  Finally the vacuum is broken and product passes through a vibratory screen to remove over size product.  The oversize is poured through a crusher called a moleculator and finally all the mass is bagged in 25 kg bags / 50 kg drums with inside liners.  The Ventury Scrubber contains some water and free chlorine  - is used as as make up for milk of Lime preparation.
 
The main chemical reaction in the manufacture of Stable Bleaching Powder is as follows:
2 Ca (OH)2 + 2 Cl2 = Ca (OCl2) + CaCl2 + 2HO2
(Calcium Hydroxide + Chlorine Gas = Calcium Hypochlorite + Calcium Chloride + Water)

The application of Stable Bleaching Powder due to its multi-dimensional properties finds ready application in a large range of industries.  Apart from its usage in Textile, Paper, Leather and Sugar Industries, it satisfies a crucial requirement in Aquaculture.  Industry wise usage of SBP is given here below:

In addition to the above, SBP is used for Swimming Pools, Purification of Water, Sewerage Treatment in Hospitals, Hotels and Homes etc.  It can also be utilized at the Directorate of Medical & Health for onward distribution to all District Medical & Health Officers, Municipal Corporations; Municipalities; Panchayats through out the State concerned.  State Governments use to call for Tenders for supply of SBP to cater their needs.  This would be a sizable requirement to meet so.

SBP is having very good response from International buyers particularly in the European Countries, Africa, US and other few more countries.

In view of the above, the Company can comfortably meet the requirement of buyers both at national and international markets.
